Dartmouth's Swim Team Raises $2-Million to Sustain Program
After being marked for elimination in November, the swimming-and-diving team at Dartmouth College has managed to raise enough money from parents and alumni to stay afloat for the next 11 years. The men and women on the team gathered $2-million in pledges to cover a budget shortfall.
As colleges across the country have dropped sports teams in recent years, administrators have typically set steep financial barriers when athletes set out to save their squads.
