'Daily Illini' Editor Who Published Controversial Cartoons Is Fired

The editor of The Daily Illini, the independent student newspaper at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, has been fired for violating company policies when he published the controversial cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, the newspaper's publisher announced in March.

The cartoons, which have infuriated Muslims around the world, first appeared in a Danish newspaper last fall.
