Creating an Opportunity to Write
At a time when black novelists, poets, and playwrights are winning national acclaim, a new project seeks to develop the first creative-writing programs at historically black colleges.
Many of the nation's 117 black colleges and universities offer a course or two in creative writing. But none offer a bachelor's degree, a master's, or even a minor in the subject.
