Court Awards $20-Million to Ohio State U. Cancer-Research Fund

Ohio State University got a surprise gift recently, one worth about $20-million -- from the Ohio Supreme Court.

The court, in late December, ruled that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield must pay $32.5-million to Robert L. Dardinger, whose wife died in 1997 after the insurance company cut off payments for her brain-cancer treatment.

However, the justices put $20-million of the award, minus legal costs, into a cancer-research fund created as part of the ruling at the Arthur
