Court Affirms Public Colleges' Lawsuit Shield
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled last week in favor of the University of Minnesota in an age-discrimination case brought by two former university employees that raised questions about how broadly the U.S. Constitution shields public colleges from claims filed in federal court.
In a 6-to-3 ruling, the justices upheld a decision by the Minnesota Supreme Court that a federal law giving people more time, under certain circumstances, to file state lawsuits does not always apply when the charges
