Course at Pacific Lutheran Combines American History With Community Service
A few years ago, Beth M. Kraig, a history professor at Pacific Lutheran College, realized that many of her comments about American society in her history class were being met with blank stares. Getting a handle on recent history is tough, she says, if you don't have much of an understanding of contemporary America. "It made it hard to teach what the roots of this was, when they didn't even know what the tree looked like," she says.
