Course Teaches Students the Complexities of Philanthropy

Giving may be better than receiving, but it can also be a lot harder.

That's what students in Ken Menkhaus's political-science course at Davidson College have discovered.

At the beginning of the semester, the 30 students in the class are given $10,000 and asked to distribute the cash however they see fit.
