Costumes, Props, and All That Jazz Go to Ohio U.

A new collection donated to Ohio University tells the story of more than a half-century of modern dance through costumes, photographs, props, and other artifacts.

The items in the collection -- to be housed in the archives of the university's Alden Library -- document the work of dancer and choreographer Murray Louis, 72, and his mentor, Alwin Nikolais, who died in 1993. The two men choreographed hundreds of dance pieces. Photographs
