Cornell U. Revamps Its Distance-Education Unit
Cornell University's for-profit distance-education subsidiary, eCornell, is being restructured to focus more on selling courses and less on producing them.
The consolidation involves some layoffs, said John Neuman, chief executive officer of the company. He would not say how big the cuts will be.
Instead of producing four courses per month, he said, eCornell will now produce two, with resources shifted to customizing those courses for other potential college buyers.
