The American University for Humanities has an interesting history. For a while, it was called the American University of Hawaii, before it ran into trouble with that state (to which it still owes a hefty fine). Under its new name, the university has campuses in such far-flung locations as the Republic of Georgia and Lebanon.
Now it’s apparently setting up shop in Colorado, according to the Silver & Gold Record, the faculty and staff newspaper at the University of Colorado system. But that move has led to some controversy — and a bill in the state’s legislature that would raise the bar for degree-granting institutions in Colorado.
The American University for Humanities’ Web site is short on information about its courses and faculty members. But it does contain this description (transcribed verbatim) of its mission: “American University for Humanities is an multimedia online university offering batchelors, and masters programs.” —Thomas Bartlett
