Controversial President at U. of Arizona

To the Editor:

I find that Joye Mercer's article "A 'Very Candid' President Keeps His Door Open at U. of Arizona" (September 4) overstates President Peter Likins's candidness, leaving the impression that he is more open-minded and objective than he actually is. Granted, Dr. Likins has been visible on campus; but one should not assume that visibility is the same as openness and objectivity.
