Controversial Choice for Presidency of Elite Taiwanese University
Taiwan's Ministry of Education is under attack for appointing a well-known scholar with an interest in psychic phenomena as president of the island's most prestigious university.
The search for a new leader for National Taiwan University ended last month when the ministry named Lee Si-Chen to the job. Mr. Lee, who holds a doctorate from Stanford University, had led National Taiwan's electrical-engineering department and served as dean of academic affairs.
