Among the most tiresome of media images in our post-cold-war era have been the countless photographs of statues of Lenin being torn down in former Soviet-bloc nations. James W. Loewen's book and his wonderful essay ("The Shrouded History of College Campuses," Opinion, January 28) are a needed corrective to such feel-good imagery.
