Controversial Books and University Presses
To the Editor:
This letter is in reference to John Higham's interesting essay, in which he makes the broad claim that scholarly publishers are reluctant to publish controversial books ("Publishing Controversial Ideas: the Politics of University Presses," Opinion, August 7). I have the greatest respect for Professor Higham as a scholar, but it is wrong-headed of him to draw this conclusion from his experience in sending an early draft
