Connecting Extinction and Religion; Dismantling Mental Firewalls

There are some 10 million species (a conservative estimate) living right now on earth. Of these 10 million species, we are losing roughly 30 thousand a year (again a conservative estimate). ... We are, in short, in the midst of an extinction crisis of proportions the earth has not seen since the last of the five major, global mass extinctions struck the earth some 65 million years ago.

The question becomes, Should we care? After all, human life seems to go along fine in New York, no
