Congress Stops Giving Heartburn to Accreditors
Legislation that troubled higher-education groups has been altered
A federal bill that had some college accreditors in a state of high anxiety a year ago has evolved into legislation with which they are now largely comfortable.
When Republican lawmakers introduced a sweeping piece of higher-education legislation in the House of Representatives last year, they included in it provisions intended to end the secrecy that surrounds the way colleges and universities are accredited.
