Congress Eyes Modest Increases for Cultural Endowments
When President Bush proposed in February a modest increase in spending on the nation's cultural endowments for the 2003 fiscal year, college lobbyists hoped that they would be able to persuade Congress to tack on some more money.
So far, lawmakers have not done so, and advocates are not sure that any more will be coming.
