Congress Examines Science Teaching
Efforts to improve the teaching of mathematics and science in schools will probably not succeed unless colleges significantly improve their instruction of undergraduates — especially future schoolteachers — in those fields, college officials told a Congressional panel last week.
To accomplish this, math and science departments need to provide financial rewards and support from colleagues to encourage faculty members to devote more effort to teaching over research,
