Congress Elevates the Status of Alternative-Medicine Unit at the NIH
Despite fierce opposition from prominent scientists and leaders at the National Institutes of Health, Congress has elevated the status of alternative medicine at the agency. The N.I.H.'s Office of Alternative Medicine will henceforth be known as the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and the new center will get a big budget boost.
The legislation for the center was included in the massive spending bill passed
