Conference Focuses on Efforts to Train New Faculty Members
Preparing new faculty members for their careers as teachers was a major emphasis at last week's annual meeting of the American Association for Higher Education here.
Donna Bergh, executive assistant to the provost at Portland State University, said attendance at sessions devoted to pedagogy was much higher than in previous years. "It used to be just POD -- professional- and organizational-development -- conferences. We were very isolated."
