Company Won't Sponsor Football Game After All
Not even Sen. John Kerry could make University of Michigan fans as mad as SBC Communications did.
Last week the telecommunications firm signed a two-year agreement with Michigan and Ohio State University to get the naming rights for the annual football game between the two, which have one of the most intense rivalries in college sports.
The deal was worth more than $500,000 annually to each institution, but provoked even more of an outcry among fans than did the Democratic
