Company That Claims Controversial Patents Offers Colleges New Licensing Plans
Acacia Research Corporation, which claims to own patents covering the concept of streaming recorded audio and video files over the Internet, is offering nonprofit colleges a new license agreement. The company says the new deal is already generating interest among institutions, but some college officials are still skeptical and plan to continue to challenge Acacia's patent claims.
