Bishop State Community College has fired two employees charged as part of a widespread financial-aid theft ring at the Alabama two-year institution, reports The Mobile Press Register. The college dismissed John David McCampbell, a barbering teacher, who was charged with stealing $10,761 in federal aid, and Gregory Lydell Conner, the baseball coach, charged with stealing $945 in federal aid.
The Mobile County District Attorney’s Office has charged 27 people with the theft of more than $200,000 in financial aid and funds from the sports program. —Jeffrey Selingo
