Community-College Faculty Votes No Confidence in Trustee

Full-time faculty members at Johnson County Community College, in Kansas, have voted no confidence in one of its trustees because of what they view as her mishandling of sexual-harassment complaints against the college’s former president.

About 76 percent of the college’s full-time instructors participated this week in the vote, a 240-to-9 expression of no confidence in the trustee, Elaine Perilla, according to Vincent Clark, president of the college’s Faculty Association. The trustees are elected, and Mr. Clark said he hoped the faculty outcry would send a message to the county’s voters. Ms. Perilla refused to comment today.
