Communist Student Makes Arizona College Abandon Loyalty Oath
The Red Scare at Mesa Community College lasted exactly two weeks.
That's how long it took the college, under pressure from the Arizona branch of the American Civil Liberties Union, to abandon cold-war-era language in a loyalty oath required of all public employees.
The controversy started when Fabricio M. Rodriguez,vice president of Mesa's student body, refused to sign the oath, which notes that membership in the Communist Party is a felony under state
