Colorado's Governor Calls for Budget Cuts in Higher Education

Gov. Bill Ritter of Colorado joined other state executives on Friday in recommending budget cuts for public colleges. Governor Ritter, a Democrat, called for slashing $30-million from higher education as part of a $632-million package of cuts, the Associated Press reported.

On Thursday a handful of other governors announced planned cuts as part of their annual budget proposals. —Don Troop
