Colleges' Undercover Battle Against Bedbugs
Neither burglars nor mail carriers need fear a 13-year-old beagle named Gidget. She's 22 pounds of sweetness with droopy ears. But to the tiny insects known as bedbugs, she's the Grim Reaper.
Gidget comes from the J&K Canine Academy, in High Springs, Fla., which trains dogs to detect bedbugs and then flies the animals all over the country. A natural, Gidget has sniffed her way through hundreds of apartments, hotels, and — yes — dorms.
