Colleges Offer Secure Web Sites to Woo Donors

The same security technology that allows consumers to feel comfortable about buying books and other goods over the Internet is now being used in college fund raising.

Some colleges and universities have begun to incorporate secure sites on their World-Wide Web pages so that alumni and others can make gifts by credit card without worrying that their card numbers will be compromised.
