Colleges Move to Aid Victims of Tsunamis

Some campuses suffered damage in Indonesia, but most are unscathed

Jayaram Venkatesan traveled home to the southeastern-Indian province of Tamil Nadu in mid-December for a restful winter break and his brother Ganesh's wedding. But after tsunamis pummeled the coastal region late last month, the electrical-engineering graduate student at the University of Cincinnati spent the remainder of his vacation distributing food, medicine, and clothing to victims of the disaster.
