Colleges Have Cut Proportion of Full-Time Faculty Members, Study Finds
A new study released by the U.S. Education Department provides new evidence that colleges are reducing the percentage of full-time positions on their faculties.
The study, conducted by the National Center for Education Statistics, is part of the 1999 National Study of Postsecondary Faculty. It is based on a survey of 960 institutions on their policies and practices as of the fall of 1998. Some of the study's most notable findings deal with colleges' growing use of adjunct faculty
