College Warns Students About Spring Break in Mexico

For students at Arizona colleges, Mexico is a popular spring-break destination. But colleges in the state are urging southbound students to reconsider their plans, as drug-related violence has reached a bloody crescendo in the country, the Associated Press reports.

A recent warning issued by the University of Arizona advised students to be extra careful if they travel to Mexico for spring break, especially along the border with the United States, where violent crime has become particularly frequent.

The U.S. State Department, which recently renewed a travel advisory for Americans venturing to Mexico, has created a Web site for students, outlining what they should know before they go to Mexico, including information about specific cities. —Steven Bushong
