College Students Are Bombarded by Cellphone 'Spim,' Study Finds
They're usually annoying, and in most cases they're illegal, but unsolicited text advertisements are popping up on the cellphones of a growing number of college students, according to a new Ball State University study.
About 25 percent of Ball State students who own cellphones have received unsolicited ads on the devices, according to the study, which was released last week by Michael L. Hanley, an assistant professor of journalism at the university.
That's a pretty high number.
