College Presidents Form Alliance Against Bowl Championship Series 'Cartel'

Colleges shut out of lucrative football-bowl championships have created a coalition to reform college athletics.

Unhappy with what one president called "classic cartel behavior" that has resulted in limited access to college football's lucrative Bowl Championship Series, 44 of the 52 presidents from Division I-A institutions that are not bowl participants voted unanimously last week to create the coalition.

The vote was arranged by Scott S. Cowen, president of Tulane
