A member of the Voorhees College Board of Trustees, who last spring said he would “continue to have faith and confidence” in Lee E. Monroe, the college’s president, despite a jury’s finding that he had sexually harassed a professor, announced last week that Mr. Monroe would be given a paid administrative leave until June 2008, while the South Carolina institution seeks a successor. And according to The Times and Democrat, the college has appointed its dean, Valdrie N. Walker, to serve as acting president until an interim president can be found. The arrangement for Mr. Monroe, who has been on administrative leave for health reasons since the jury verdict, drew criticism from some Voorhees alumni, the newspaper reported. —Andrew Mytelka
