College Leaders Wrestle With How to Prepare for Unknown Threats

Ten months after the Virginia Tech shootings prompted colleges nationwide to enhance safety, campus leaders continue to struggle with how to prepare for unknown threats and determine when and how to inform their campuses of potential dangers.

That was the message delivered last week by the director of public safety at Princeton University and two university presidents — including Charles W. Steger of Virginia Tech.
