A freshman football player at Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania died this morning after falling ill during the team’s first official workout of training camp. The player, a 6-foot-2, 270-pound Pennsylvania native named Vince Bernardo, was running sprints when he collapsed, according to a Shippensburg news release. He died within an hour. There was no official word on a cause of death.

College football players die every year or two in training camp, for a variety of reasons but most commonly heat exhaustion.
