College Bound or Not, High Schoolers Need Same Skills, Report Says

High-school graduates who pursue vocational-training programs need the same mathematics and reading skills as do graduates who plan to attend four-year colleges, according to a report released today by the American College Testing group, the nonprofit company that owns the ACT test. The report, “Ready for College and Ready for Work: Same or Different?,” also states that high-school officials should encourage students to take rigorous courses regardless of their career plans.
