College Board Sues Test-Prep Company

Apparently students are not the only ones who can cheat on the SAT. The College Board, owner of the standardized test, has sued a Dallas-based test-preparation company for allegedly using questions from illegally obtained tests.

According to the copyright-infringement complaint, a company called Karen Dillard’s College Prep secured a copy of the PSAT given in mid-October from a high-school principal in Plano, Tex., who is the brother of one of the company’s executives.

“We are outraged by the deceptive and unlawful tactics knowingly practiced by KDCP,” Edna Johnson, senior vice president of the College Board, told the Associated Press.

The lawsuit also alleges that the company tried to sell some of the College Board’s materials to other test-prep companies and school districts in Texas. —Elizabeth F. Farrell
