College Board Defends New SAT at Meeting
High-school guidance counselors and representatives from colleges in the Midwest grilled Gaston Caperton, president of the College Board, about the writing portion of the SAT last week at a town-hall meeting that closed the organization's three-day regional conference in Chicago.
Some participants criticized the length of the revamped SAT, as well as the requirement that students complete the writing portion of the test. One high-school guidance counselor said the length of the test
