Collecting Data About the Humanities

To the Editor:

I am writing in response to "N.E.H. Official Calls for Broader Research Into U.S. Humanities Policy" (June 25). The importance of humanities-policy studies is something that we at the National Endowment for the Humanities feel strongly about. And that is why we were dismayed to note some inaccuracies contained in the article, which have the effect of undercutting its basic message.
