Cloned-Baby Claim Renews Calls for Legislation Scientists Fear
A claim by a fringe religious group last month that it had created the first human baby through cloning has renewed calls for a ban on the cloning of human cells. But research advocates worry that such a federal moratorium would block attempts not only to make human beings but also to develop stem cells to treat a variety of diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and diabetes.
