Classroom Discussion vs. Endorsement

To the Editor:

Robin Wilson's "A Not-So-Professorial Watchdog" (The Chronicle, November 10) — reporting on Anne D. Neal, president of the American Council of Trustees and Alumni — was a commendable effort to report objectively on Neal's disagreement with Roger W. Bowen, general secretary of the American Association of University Professors.

Would that Bowen's observations about "conspiracy theories" were as perceptive as Neal's. Neal criticizes conspiracy
