Rude students — those who bound into class late and then proceed to chat, text message, devour fast food, read magazines, sleep, send e-mail messages, and otherwise radiate that smug sense of entitlement — can make you tear out your hair. Or theirs.
But Pier M. Forni, a professor of Italian literature who also directs the Civility Initiative at Johns Hopkins University, has a few thoughts on minding manners. His forthcoming book, due out in June, is The Civility
