City to Berkeley: Don't Tread on Us
Berkeley, Calif., is no stranger to protest. Now the city itself is raising its voice. Late last month municipal officials filed suit in county court against the University of California's flagship, arguing that its campus expansion plan does not adequately consider the impact on the city.
The university's 2020 Long Range Development Plan, which was approved in January by a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents, calls for adding a maximum of 2.2 million square feet, or the equivalent
