Citing Criticism, Maryland's Governor Withdraws as Candidate for University Job
Parris N. Glendening, governor of Maryland, withdrew his name from consideration to become the next chancellor of the University System of Maryland last week. Critics had said it would be a conflict of interest for him to be considered because he had either appointed or reappointed all the members of the system's Board of Regents, which will make the selection.
