China Bans Foreigners From a Meeting
In a new indication of the Chinese government's suspicion of researchers with overseas connections, Chinese officials have barred scholars from Taiwan and non-Chinese academics from a July conference in Beijing on the country's economy. The restrictions may lead to the meeting's cancellation.
