Chimpanzee Genome Mapped by Scientists
An international group of 67 scientists has mapped the genome of the closest relative to human beings, the chimpanzee. Their work was published on September 1 in the journal Nature.
Because the evolutionary relationship between chimps and people is close, scientists celebrated the genetic sequence as a major milestone in understanding what makes human beings unique.
