Chile Moves Toward Voluntary Accreditation

Concerned about educational quality in the country's fast-growing, largely unregulated private-higher-education sector, Chile is developing a voluntary accreditation system for both its public and its private universities.

Accreditation is important to ensure the quality of Chilean college graduates as the nation signs free-trade agreements with highly developed nations, the Ministry of Education says.
