Cheney Lecture Raises Hackles at a Missouri College Known for Lofty Speeches
When Vice President Dick Cheney attacked Sen. John F. Kerry in a foreign-policy speech at Westminster College last month, many people at the Missouri college felt that he impugned not only the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, but also the college itself.
Foreign-policy speeches are revered at Westminster. In 1946 Winston Churchill, by then a former British prime minister, chose the college as the first place to use "iron curtain" to describe the threat that he said
