Changes Are Urged in Patent Legislation
Five higher-education associations are urging lawmakers to make several key changes in a major patent-reform bill moving through the U.S. House of Representatives.
Among other things, the groups want to make sure that the legislation preserves the legal grounds that now allow researchers to seek a patent for their inventions without having to delay publishing or disclosing new findings — a crucial concern for academics.
